My name is Leo, I’m 34 years old, born and raised in Marseille, in the south of France. At a really young age, I was inspired by the outgoing personalities of the residents of my home city where you don’t keep your tongue - nor your emotions! - in your pocket. Drawing ever since I was a kid, I started tattooing at age 20, it allowed me to stop working ungrateful jobs and focus on my craft. Nine years ago, I moved to Paris where the money flows more consequently. I was involved with a group of people running a popular clothing brand. Also, the city had a higher demand for tattoos allowing me to develop my own network and clientele. From then, I set up my own shop - L’Encrerie, with my partner Jey Noname. Today, I’m surrounded by wonderful and inspiring artists. We’re gathered in an uplifting environment allowing us to let our creativity flow. This is my ultimate goal.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?
Clean lines, two different types of thickness. No shades, easy to see, easy to feel - something you can feel both with your heart and your brain.
WHAT DOES “OFF THE WALL” MEAN TO YOU?
It evokes the idea to look way past that wall of official knowledge that is force fed to us in the French school system.
WHAT ARE YOUR MAIN INSPIRATIONS?
I’m inspired by the good and not so good times that we all experience. The huge amount of comic books that I read throughout my childhood alongside fables of La Fontaine, narratives about human nature, and the hermetic language of egyptian hieroglyphics showing human bodies with precise animal heads are all mashed up in my art to express a person's characters and its environment . I try to bring them to life through brief illustrations, spontaneous moments of life with which anybody can identify. I’m fascinated by the underlying animal instinct within each one of us, that instinct that we try to dress up with our clothes or the way we express ourselves.
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST PAIR OF VANS?
The classic Black slip-on,no laces. A beautifully basic and classic shape the shoe chosen for a sober way of personal expression. Comfortable.
WHAT HAVE BEEN SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE REACTIONS TO YOUR WORK?
Simply when someone tells me they identify with one of my drawings.
IF YOU COULD DO A COLLABORATIVE PIECE WITH ANY ARTIST, LIVING OR DEAD, WHO WOULD IT BE?
a collaboration with sir Alejandro Jodorowski
WHAT ARE SOME FAVORITE WORKS YOU’VE CREATED?

WHAT THINGS DO YOU HAVE PLANNED FOR 2017/2018?
